What is it?

Regression therapy focuses on resolving significant past childhood or life events believed to be interfering with a person’s present mental and emotional wellness.

As a person moves through life, memories are stored. Some of these are accessible to the conscious mind, while others are not generally accessible. Even though the subconscious memories are not accessible, they can still have a significant impact on a person’s development and ability to function.

During therapy, memories may be uncovered, leading to emotional release, often resulting in a great sense of relief. The therapist provides support in ensuring the client has processed the emotions effectively.

What conditions is it helpful for?

Regression therapy can be particularly helpful for the following:

  • Known singular or cumulative trauma
  • Fears or phobias that have no known cause
  • Sensing something is unresolved from the past
  • Feelings of guilt or shame that appear to have no explanation
  • Feeling stuck or uncertain
  • Difficulty getting over childhood or past relationships
  • Lack of self-esteem
  • Specific limiting self-beliefs
  • Generalised lack of confidence

Does it work?

Regression therapy has been shown to result in spontaneous release of emotions that have been stuck in the mind and body and sometimes uncovering of repressed or hidden memories.

Most importantly, many people report a sense of relief and ability to move forward having revisited past situations in a therapeutic setting.
