Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Course

The Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course provides a gentle but in-depth introduction to some of the most significant aspects of mindfulness practice and incorporates key teachings from the nationally recognised MBSR programme, with a particular emphasis on managing anxiety, stress and emotional or physical pain.

Who is it for?

The MBSR course is suitable for anyone that is experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, physical or emotional pain, or is feeling stuck or uncertain about their present situation or the future. It is also suitable for anyone who wants to develop greater self-awareness and to have greater understanding and control of their feelings and emotions. It will help participants to develop acceptance and a non-judgmental attitude towards themselves and others.

This course is especially suited to those that want to complete a course quicker and who want to cover most aspects of mindfulness practice without undertaking a full-length course which can typically cost twice as much.

What happens in the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Course?

The course is usually held over 4 weeks, allowing the course to be completed more quickly, while still covering the most important aspects of a full course.

The course provides a gentle but in-depth introduction to the major aspects of mindfulness practice and incorporates key teachings from the original, nationally recognised MBSR programme.

The teacher will provide instructions and lead practice in a wide range of mindfulness techniques which will include breathing, gentle movement, meditation, visualisation and sensory awareness.

The teacher will give talks and lead discussion on the ‘mindfulness attitudes’ and participants will be able to contribute as much or as little as they are comfortable in doing. The teacher may also read stories, poetry or extracts from books that are relevant to the teachings.

The home practice is a significant part of the course and the teacher will provide instruction on the exercises and practices to be undertaken in between the weekly classes.

There is time in every class for participants to ask questions.

The full course is 6 hours in duration.
